Guru Nanak Gurdwara (Leicester) is looking to appoint a Amritdhari Gur-Sikh Religious Worker. Applicant must be a practising Baptist Sikh and be fluent in reading Holy text to preach and conduct pastoral work and non-pastoral work. The applicant must also be able to perform katha and be a table master.
Responsibilities of the post will include being proficient at singing Gurbani (sacred Sikh hymns) to the musical measures prescribed in the Guru Granth Sahib and be able to play the harmonium, table (table master) and other music instruments when singing Gurbani.
Other duties of the post will include doing short translations of hymns in between singing for the benefit of the Sikh Sangat. Conducting religious services such as reciting the Bani, Mahraj Parkash, Shri Akhand Path, Shri Sukhmani Sahib Path, Hukam Nana, Nitnem and katha vachak and performing Ardass (prayer), kirtan in the morning and evening.
Administering rites of faith such as marriages and funerals. Overseeing year festive calendar and special events such as Gurpurabs and other functions like Sangrand and serving the Langar.
